TOUGHER SECURITY GUARDS IN N.Z TO MIRROR INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS
Recently we had a knife held to throat hostage incident, here in New Zealand. This involved a female shopper at Manukau Westfield.
This and a spate of other incidents has displayed an alarming new trend that crime has taken a brazen turn for the worse here in New Zealand. Police are quick to point out that they have decreased.the murder rate here in New Zealand. Yet we are seeing an alarming increase in aggravated robbery involving guns, sawn off shot guns and sometimes machetes.
The solution is obvious. We need tougher Security measures in place along with tougher and fitter security guards. Yet frustratingly, until we can pass tougher legislation we can not equip our Security Officers with the type of tools that they need to achieve this.
To be quite frank, for the first time in New Zealand’s history our Security Officers are now highly at risk. Not only do we have limited tools of the trade to deal with such threats. We also have limited power to act and even deter criminals. This makes a mockery of the entire Security Industry and what we do. To serve and protect the general public and premises effectively something has to change.
Imperium Security will keep negotiating and if necessary keep pushing the New Zealand government for this vital change, particularly towards permitting Security Officers powers more closely matched to our New Zealand police.
Vital change in legislation is ncessary now in New Zealand, in order to protect the general public and Security Officers from the fall out of alarming new criminal trends here in New Zealand!”
Imperium Security
It’s only a matter of time before the vital role of a Security Officer here in New Zealand is taken more seriously. Imperium Security will also be outfitting all of their Security Officers, mobile and static, with body cameras.
Body cameras have been shown to reduce assaults on Security Officers. They also provide Officers with the petfect alibi, should assailants and even eye witnesses lie about an incident.
Please get behind us and show us your support. Only until we achieve this can we serve you to the extent that we can and should!
